No War With Iran!

Mid-Missouri DSA condemns in the strongest terms the criminal act of aggression carried out by the United States and Israel against the people of Iran. This attack is the latest in a long series of unprovoked brutalities that the US has inflicted on Iran, from airstrikes to the atrocity of sanctions which have for years denied Iranians life-saving medicines and other necessities. Now the US, along with its imperialist partner Israel, seek to forcefully overthrow the Iranian government and thereby throw the country into chaos, which will lead to an untold number of deaths.

There is no rationale for this war beyond a naked desire for geopolitical dominance, as well as profits for military contractors and energy conglomerates. The US military is once again assuming its traditional role as a hired gun for capital, sent out to pillage and burn to clear the way for business interests. Soldiers are ordered to kill and die so that a tiny elite can enjoy a greater return on their investments. For this reason and this reason alone the blood of thousands, perhaps far more, will be spilled.

The working class in the United States cannot and must not stand for this. We therefore urge all of our comrades in DSA as well as the people of our community to speak out and resist this unjustified war against the people of Iran. Now is the time to get involved with your local chapter, and with the broader anti-war movement. The wheels of the US imperial machine must be stopped, and we must stop them.
