Mid-Missouri DSA Community Statement

Working-class people face an economy and a society captured at all levels by a ruling class, an oligarchy of bosses and landlords. It is time for an alternative to this government of, by, and for the deep-pocketed.

The Democratic Socialists of America are the largest and friendliest socialist organization in the United States. We are a political and activist organization, not a party. Through campus and community-based chapters, DSA members use a variety of tactics, from legislative to direct action, to  bring the working class to power. DSA chapters organize around various issues, striving to run strategic campaigns based on local conditions. 

We believe that working people should run both society and the economy democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few. We want a democracy that creates space for us all to flourish, not just survive. We want the diverse and multifaceted working class united in solidarity instead of divided by the fear planted by the ruling class. 

We show our commitment to these principles by being an organization of, by, and for the working class.
