No New Jail
No New Jail is organizing a coalition to oppose the Boone County Sheriff's plan to build a huge, expensive new jail facility. Our group is just getting off the ground. We need people who will help us make the case for decarceration and community services as opposed to locking up more people. Please join us!
Contact Peggy Placier at pplacier@centurylink.net for more info.
Postcards for Justice
Join us from 5 til 8PM on March 23rd for Postcards for Justice!
We'll be fundraising for City of Refuge and the Center Project, as well as hosting a canned food drive for the Food Bank. Write letters to politicians and SPEAK UP FOR JUSTICE! Free entry.
Mid-Missouri Emergency Meeting
Here in Missouri, we show up for each other, no matter what we look like, who we love, or how much is in our wallets. But certain politicians have shown us that they care more about corporate welfare than the welfare of the people. Last year, politicians like Gov. Kehoe and House Speaker Patterson stole away our paid sick days, forced another tricky ballot to ban abortion all over again and undo our votes from 2024, froze the minimum wage, tried to dismantle the People's Initiative Petition process, gerrymandered our congressional districts to silence Black, Brown, and working class voters, and have been doubling down on their attacks on trans and gender expansive young people. Now they want to hike up taxes on working families so the elite minority can get even richer at the expense of the everyday services we need to make a good living.
WE ARE WORTH MORE. Join us for an emergency legislative town hall in March. Together — regardless of races, genders, or backgrounds — we will demand a state budget that respects the will of the people, invests in our futures, and makes the welfare of the people the supreme law.
Flock Walk
Want to learn more about the Flock cameras you see popping up around the city of Columbia?
Join us on our guided informational tour to Flock camera locations!
We start at 8th Street Circle. The total distance of the tour is 0.8 miles, or a 19 minute walk. We will be stopping at different camera locations and discussing the cameras themselves as well as the dangers of surveillance.
